I would love to take the consumerism out of Christmas. My mother in law spends $300-$500 per person at Christmas and goes into debt that takes her until the next Christmas to pay off. I've tried to get her to set a limit, but she refuses. So I just buy what I want to give and what I think people would like to receive. No matter than I spent 22 cents or $1.00 or $4.99 at a thrift store for the items.
Do you like the birds on the spoons or just the fancy metal spoons in general?
I can't decide-I like both aspects of the birds and the spoons themselves. I think spending that much, feeling that you -have- to in order for so-in-so to have a enjoyable Christmas, is just insane. I can't wait until Christmas this year, I've got a lot to be thankful for and it's going to be a very fun challenge getting/making all the presents. I have a good excuse not to spend a fortune this year, so I'm ready!
